Working Man's Collage
Once again, I already had an illustration accepted by the magazine (just guessing but it looks like either HONCHO or INCHES) when they contacted me to fill in at the last minute for another artist who had submitted something unusable. As was typically the case, I branched out to get a different "style" for the emergency entry so my standard technique wouldn't overwhelm the issue. This was the only time that I ever tried to do a collage. What's interesting is that I drew on receipts and forms rather than drawing paper, then just tore up the five or six sketches and pieced them together. Not a monumental success (Hey, I only had two days to work on it) but neither is it a failure. But I wasn't smitten enough with the outcome to ever try repeating it.
