Friendship

I was very enthusiastic about doing the illustrations for this particular work of fiction. The basic story concerned a young man's visit to a traveling circus and his becoming infatuated by one of the trapeze artists. The thing that made this set-up unique was that the character of the acrobat was that of an impetuous, brazen, confident foreigner who (probably as a necessary component of his high flying success) didn't engage in the sort of over-thinking common to most American. He just naturally believed that if there was something that he wanted, he was going to get it. Unhampered by the doubts and insecurities that typify most sexual approaches, this guy's unbridled appetite inspired me to address the charm and bravado that infused the whole romance.
