The Crush Arrives 1
This tale being illustrated concerned a middle-aged man who had taken a fancy to the virile teenage "hunk" next door. In an almost obsessive manner he watches the lad from behind closed curtains and indulges in elaborate fantasies about the two of them getting together. As in all one-handed fiction, the object of his desire does "accidentally" succumb to his neighbor's dogged attentions. This was one of two "spot" illustrations, miniaturized and dropped throughout the text to provide visual interest to the page. I gave the blond bombshell a slightly snarky expression to remind the readers that what is envisioned, imagined, and put on a pedestal sometimes has flaws when examined up close.
