Gypsy Spell
At the height of the New Age/Magic Crystal phenomenon one of the writers cranked out a tale about a skeptical male reporter sent to uncover fraud and silliness but finds himself a true believer after the lovely Tarot card reader shows him a transcending treat. The exotic and slightly menacing female character was a welcome relief for me as I'd been drawing soft, somewhat brainless girls as described in the fiction for quite a while. This particular character was based on my Miami Beach roommate at the time, Patty. She was a stripper and had a sensuously muscular physique, a Columbian-South Asian heritage who enjoyed walking around the apartment scantily clad. She also took half of my paycheck for this illustration.
