The Emperor's Son I

I normally avoid doing 'period' pieces. Pirates, Gladiators, Powdered Wigs. I don't really know much about them. I can research how things appeared in the past but it's impossible for me to get an authentic feel for the homo goings-on. But I saw a marble statue of a young Greek or Roman boy and wondered if I could give him an extra chapter to his life by putting him in a drawing. The Emperor's son, standing here listening to his father explain to the guard that the Emperor has political enemies who might try to harm his heir, seems comfortable with his station in life. He understands that he is part of a historical process, a dynasty, an important element in a bigger plan. He embraces his duty. That kind of thinking is very interesting to me.
